We tried the most popular leather leggings on the market so you didn’t have to. Here is MM’s official leather leggings ratings from best to worst:

SPANX Faux Leather Leggings $98.00 Rating: 4.5/5

SPANX leggings are literally everywhere you look on Instagram. Just about every fashion blogger has done a review on these or has been photographed in them. Point of the story-they live up to the hype. 100% The positives- these are a true legging and most definitely not a thick pant material. They are so comfortable and flexible. The pants really move with you. Absolutely fit true to size. The great thing about a leather legging like these (rather than more of a pant material) is that they can be dressed up or down. You could pair these with sneakers and a sweatshirt or a sweater and boots. Either way, you will still look super chic and put together. The leggings also include a waist band which makes for easy styling with cropped pieces such as cropped sweatshirts. The negatives- personal opinion here but the leggings are more shiny and less of a true black leather look. The price is a bit high but when you compare to other leggings (ex. Lululemon) the prices align. Other than this, literally no real complaints here.

Commando Perfect Control Faux Leather Leggings $98.00 Rating: 4/5

Another very popular item in the world of Instagram, the Commando leggings have a very similar vibe to the Spanx leggings but with a slight twist. They are very high waisted and include a smoothing tummy panel. The positives- the tummy panel really works. The tummy control aspect is really added value. The leggings definitely hug in all of the right places. The color is absolutely perfect. They look like a true solid black leather even though they fit as leggings and not pants. The negatives- the leggings are just not as comfortable as the Spanx leggings. They also are a bit on the tighter side and definitely fit very sung. (MM suggests sizing up if you are in-between two sizes) The leggings also do not have a waistband. If you don’t mind a more snug fit in leggings, Commando would probably work best for you.

Sanctuary Runway Faux Leather Leggings $109.00 Rating 3.5/5

The Sanctuary leather leggings definitely do not receive as much hype on Instagram as the Spanx and Commando leggings. However, they do bring something completely different to the table. They actually fit and look like pants rather than leggings. Although their official style name considers them a legging, MM would consider them a leather pant. The positives- they fit like a thick leather pant but are extremely soft and flexible. Most leather pants are stiff. These are the furthest from that. The also have back pockets which adds to more of a pant feel. They are smooth like butter, literally. The color is also great. A true leather look with the slightest bit of shine. They fit true to size. The negatives- the leggings are coated with a faux leather material. After a few wears, the leather coating completely peeled off of the pants right in the butt region. The split aligned perfectly, if you know what I mean. MM wanted to love these pants but the peeling of the leather in the crack really killed the vibe.

Zara Faux Leather Leggings $35.90 Rating 3/5

Where does MM even begin? Well, I’m sad. Zara is literally amazing but these leather leggings- not so much. The positives- these have a true leather look. They are not too shiny and the perfect solid black color. The zipper detail at the ankles adds the perfect amount of edge to the pant. They also are super warm for nights out. Also, you can’t beat the price for these in comparison to our other contenders. The negatives- the fit is just off. The pants sink super low in the crotch area and are super tight in the knees. The fit was a complete no, unfortunately.
