Fashion Trends The Woman of Sex and the City Would Wear Today
The big news is here, HBO Max will soon have a Sex and the City reboot titled And Just Like That. With the news quickly spreading, I couldn’t help but wonder, what would the women of Sex and the City wear today. Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte were instant fashion icons when Sex and the City first aired over 20 years ago. Today, the fashion industry still looks back on the SATC era as a form of inspiration when creating the next biggest trend. There are high hopes for And Just Like That, high as in, we desperately need this show to give us the inspiration we are in need of lately.
We are anticipating plenty of new manolos and so much more in the new series. So what fashion trends would the women of SATC wear today? MM has made her predictions.
Carrie Bradshaw
Shoes Over Pants, Square- Toed Heels and Matching Sets
We all know Carrie was obsessed with shoes. If all else failed in life, Carrie knew she could be the little old woman who lived in a shoe. She had enough manolos, she could live in a different shoe every night if she wanted. Despite never having enough money realistically to support her shoe addiction, Carrie always had the best shoes. No surprise here that Carrie would be obsessed with all of the latest shoe trends, specifically the square-toed heel trend (think Bottega Veneta) and the shoes over pants trend so her fabulous shoes never went unnoticed. Carrie would most likely be obsessed with matching sets as it makes picking an outfit out that much easier plus comfort is essential when sitting by a computer all day writing and wondering things.
Miranda Hobbes
Cashmere On Cashmere and Chunky Boots
Ah Miranda, the most sophisticated yet underrated gal of the bunch. Miranda would be obsessed with the cashmere everything trend. Cashmere sweaters, cashmere pants, cashmere hats, scarves, gloves. If it is made of cashmere, Miranda will wear it. Thank goodness, lawyer Miranda can actually afford cashmere with her salary because that is one expensive trend. When Miranda is not in the office, she would pair her cashmere sweater and pants with a pair of chunky boots. Causal yet chic, exactly as Miranda wanted to be. Never over the top but never out of style either.
Charlotte York
Polo Collar Sweaters Paired with Tennis Skirts and Biker Shorts
Charlotte, the one woman who could make a paper bag look classy. Charlotte consistently presented us with grace and elegance. She would be all over the polo collar sweater trend and actually look fabulous in it. Polos collar sweaters are no longer strictly for those who have reached motherhood but rather for the classy gal who is poised yet super stylish. She would pair her polo collar sweater with a tennis (or golf) skirt. Tennis skirts have become appropriate to wear even when you’re not playing tennis. Who knew! Charlotte loved her runs in Central Park so naturally she would show the children of TikTok how biker shorts are suppose to be styled, appropriately.
Samantha Jones
Cheetah Print, Tiger Print, Faux Leather and Trench Coats
Although we are heartbroken Samantha will not be making an appearance in And Just Like That, she is still a fashion icon and would very much approve of the fashion trends today. Her favorites would first include cheetah print, tiger print or any other type of animal print for that matter. We always admired Samantha because she loved herself first and didn’t care what anyone else though. She would wear any trend as long as it made her feel confident. Samantha would live for the confidence that comes when wearing a good cheetah print. With that, Samantha would be all over the faux leather trend as nothing screams “sexy” quite like a good pair of skin tight leather leggings. Speaking of sexy, you already know Samantha is bringing that trench coat trend back…with nothing underneath, of course. Oh Samantha, you will be missed.
